I was noticed on the Ammo Oracle in the "Do M193 and M855 shoot to the same point of impact?" section the point of impact for M193 versus M855 shifted to the left in the illustration.

Now, I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to shooting, but why would a different weight bullet shift to either the left or right? Wouldn't it just shift up and down due to different bullet velocities? Did it shift in this example because the shooter who conducted this test was using a muzzle break or flash suppressor and the gas was exiting at a different pressure for the different loads?

The harmonics of the barrel dictate how one load will shoot over the other.  A M855 round and a M193 round will vibrate differently going down the barrel, the result is a left or right movement amoung the groups.

I cant explain why but out of my 1:7 14.5" M4 5.56mm Horn 75Gn OTM hits high and to the right when the carbine is zeroed for Black hills NATO spec 77Gn Nosler.

Why doesnt really matter. the point is you need to rezero when you change match or duty ammo.  for plinking you can probably get away with the POI shift.
