I installed a Lantac Dragon with crush washer and light use of frog lube on the barrel threads. I originally had to take it from 7oclock to a 12oclock position with 20lb torque.  I used the tighten back off tighten method and when i got to the 11oclock i thought it would be a final pull to the 12oclock with a 20lb finish. No, it went past 12 and on to 3oclock before the torque wrench clicked. So i backed off and unscrewed it completely--was this my first mistake?  Then on my second much longer and difficult to set attempt i got the 12oclock position i wanted but it was much more then 20lbs, i was using a lot of torch dont know how much though.--Could this be an issue? And last i noticed the washer went on akward and set in like so, check out the picture to see the differnce in sides.--Is this an issue and should i redo it altogether with a new washer?
And do you think my over torque damaged anything?

The people in the how to videos make it look easy. -_-

Crush washer is not a tighten, retighten device.

Tighten to index and quit. You need a new crush washer, install with no lube.

Yep, your mistake was to not get the skinny on what crush washers do.  With a crush washer, you simply tighten to index.  If you didn't get the device tight enough because that crush washer "gave" too much, it's time to use another crush washer.  But don't worry as much about torque next time.  As long as you get "plenty" of torque, the crush washer will hold the device securely.

You need to pay attention to torque when using a peel washer, but that's a whole different animal.

Yep a new crush washer... and snug with a wrench. I've never had a muzzle device loosen up over the past 30+ yrs and I don't put them on real tight....just snug. I don't lube the threads.

What these guys said.

Only thing Ill add is that I try to get a minimum of a half a turn, but no more than a full turn, once the muzzle device starts to contact the crush washer.  In other words, put on crush washer, tighten the muzzle device by hand until it touches the crush washer, then turn a minimum of 1/2 turn but no more than a full turn, until it indexes how you want it.  I dont install mine dry, I use a little Aeroshell grease on the threads.

Dont worry about a torque wrench, and use a real 3/4" wrench, not some shitty all-in-one wonder tool armorers wrench that fits half ass on the muzzle device flats..
