I am contmeplating a low profile gas block. I certainly want to dimple the barrel for one or more set screws. Has anyone tried dimpling themselves? How deep should a dimple go? What was your method for making the dimple- alignment etc?

Ok, I am about to give up- 60 reads with no responses. I think may just cut the FSB down.

I did one barrel in a mini mill using the gas block as the jig. One set screw to hold the alignment and drilled the empty hole. I just used a standard drill and drilled deep enough that I was out to the full diameter of the drill. I measured that with a caliper off of the bit and used the mill to measure the depth of drilling.
