I just got a 16 inch Sabre Defense barrel from PKFirearms.  Great barrel but after looking it over i noticed it does not have a dimple for the bottom of the gas block for a set screw.  Is this nessesary and if so whats the best way to dimple it?  I plan on using the Novesek/Vltor style gas block.  Ive used this block before on a WOA Barrel.

There is a thread on here but I can't find it with a guy making a jig to do this.  If I remember correctly he is making the jigs and Rainier Arms is going to sell them.  I tried to find the thread for you but I can't find it.  Maybe try calling Rainier.

You are correct, I'm that guy. Here's the thread: www.jobrelatedstuff.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=354620

Rainier has a batch of 20 but I'm not sure when they will have them available for sale.

I don't have anymore available to sell either.

Slide the gas block on, line it up and get teh set screws good and tight.

Loosen the set screws and slide the gas block out of the way and you should see circular marks on teh barrel where the sets screws bit into the metal.

Very carefully identify and center punch the center of the marks.  It helps to remove one of the set screws so you can line it up with the marks to correctly identify the center.

Using a drill press (or a hand drill of you're steady with it) and and a drill bit that is a couple sizes larger than the set screw, drill the dimples.  You will not be drilling past the angled face of the drill bit and you want the dimple large enough that the set screw will fit down inside it.  It's best to err on the side of two small because you can always enlarge the hole as needed.

If the barrel isn't made of stainless then you should use either a little cold blueing solution or a little dab of paint to cover the bare metal and give it some corrosion resistance.

You can do it without the jig. I did all of mine except the last one without the jig.

The jig makes it a no brainer and puts it dead center over the gas port.
