i notice you linked your barrel is a 14.5" not a 16"
your bcg is also a semi auto not fill auto. not to mention price is high. better here www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGX&name=AIM+AR%2fM16+BCG-X+.223%2f5.56%2f.300BO+9310+MPI+Nitride+Bolt+NiB+Carrier+Group&groupid=929 not sure why you want that upper and lower, wouldn't be my first choice. also you have no flash hider/brake |

Yeah that link was one of those rookie mistakes...
I truly have 0 experience with choosing these parts, so I found a BCG that got good reviews on the forum. This may be a foot in mouth statement, but I don't have a class 3 so I went with the semi auto... The upper and lower are titanium and I honestly just thought that would be sweet to incorporate, I just need to get some more info from the manufacturer concerning the FA. I couldn't decide on a flash hider yet, I want to get the gun built and get a feel for it and add that towards the end. I know they go from mild to wild. I really want this gun to be tough, versatile, and cycle flawlessly, so any and all advice will be well received. (the American dream right?) Thank you guys. All great leaders since Moses have known that a feared enemy must be crushed completely. (Sometimes they have learned this the hard way.) If one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation: The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit. |

You need no special permit for a Full Auto BCG. The BCG does not make it Full Auto. Most stay with a Full Auto BCG for the extra mass it has. Usually the least problems.
Your parts in my opinion are Very High $$. If you watch sales, daily deals and are patient you should be able to save some money so you can afford ammo. PasoGunner Edit: Also what will the rifle be used for? I just think sometimes the most expensive gimmicky parts don't necessarily make the rifle any more reliable. If you are going for flashy over function that's fine too! That's what's nice about Black Rifle Disease. You can built exactly what you want! |
|
Just looked at that upper and lower! WOW can't believe they can talk people into buying. Stronger, Lighter, able to leap over tall buildings, etc, etc
Polymer lowers are never a good idea even if the cost $200 $250 for an upper. Neither of these will make that much difference. Look cool sure. Brag to your freinds, sure. Don't get swept up in all the ridiculous Tacticool buzz words. The AR has been around for years. It's tried and true parts work! Barrel, trigger, buttstocks will help but upper and lower just holds the parts together. IMHO PasoGunner |

i would go something like this. you would use some of the stuff you listed but exchange some of it for this stuff. most of the exterior is beauty items and is up to the end user but where the money should be invested is in a nice proven trigger, barrel, and bcg. everything else is more or less up to the user on what they like. also imo i would go with a mid length gas tube set up over carbine. also know that if you do go with a 14.5" barrel you have to pin it with a long enough flash hider or your braking the law.
any lower and upper you like lower part kit without trigger - $50 https://www.primaryarms.com/CMMG_Lower_Receiver_Parts_Kit_for_AR_15_No_Grip_p/cmmg55ca601.htm trigger - $180 https://www.primaryarms.com/Geissele_Super_Semi_Automatic_SSA_Two_StageTrigg_p/gat-ssa.htm buffer tube and stuff - $70 https://www.primaryarms.com/Spike_s_Tactical_6_Position_Mil_Spec_Buffer_Tube_A_p/sla500r-k.htm trigger guard - $20 http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XSTSLA0102&name=Spike's+Tactical+Billet+Trigger+Guard+Gen+II&search=trigger+guard BCG - $110 http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCGX&name=AIM+AR%2fM16+BCG-X+.223%2f5.56%2f.300BO+9310+MPI+Nitride+Bolt+NiB+Carrier+Group&groupid=929 my only experience with barrels is rainier match series and voodoo inc. |

Definitely do some shopping around.
You would be paying almost as much for your receivers as I have in each rifle. (AH, titanium . . . And get the heavy bolt unless you are going for light weight. The mass smooths the cycle out unless you prefer rapid mag dumps. Barrel is kind of pricy too but then I'm pretty cheap and don't plan on operating (mine are hobby rifles).
Dunno, maybe build a basic rifle to get started? You KNOW you are going to build another. That way you get you feet wet on the cheap and will have a better Idea what you want. (And the parts you will need.) |

wow didn't realize the price on that barrel. thats a little high imo unless your a pro shooter.

| I have to agree with EVERYONE here. The prices are too high, especially for the upper, lower and barrel. Aim Surplus has an awesome NiB V2 BCG for $100 or so. I have their full auto version in an 18" rifle length gas system. It shoots very smooth. As far as the trigger, the JP requires a lot of adjustments that are time consuming. For less money you can get a Geissele SSA-E or SD-E, drop it in and go to the range. I have the SD-E and I love it although I see more people using the SSA-E. Personal preference I guess. I would reconsider some of you choices and take the advice of the more experienced people here. (I'm a 13'er, what do I know?) |
Thank you guys for all of the great feedback. Definitely glad I consulted y'all before jumping off the deep end. Not to stir a pot, but are the JP parts grossly over priced, or are they just aimed at a different crowd? Either way, I'm going to trim some fat from the build list. Starting with the barrel, BCG, trigger, gas tube length, and buffer tube assembly, the savings difference is $365. I don't want to be tarred and feathered, but I really like the Titanium upper and lower, but i still haven't been contacted by the manufacturer, so they might be out of the equation anyway, if they don't email me back within a week I'm going with the seekins billet upper, and the seekins gen 2 lower.

That description sounds like snake oil..... "the exceptional material synthesis delivers a combine product profile which is superior to single material lowers............the multi material lower delivers six balanced attributes of superior strength...." uhhhhhh....... ???? |
| That receiver set is a no go, far as i can tell it's a poly lower with ti inserts like the ati (no way, for me at least) if you just want to spend money on a light fancy set, look into 2a balios light or spend it on an ambi rainier/mega billet or another nice billet that at least brings something to the table. Your money and do with it as you please but know eventually (probably sooner than later) you will be let down most likely. |
Great point. I've had a stock RRA operator for a few years now, but I'll be selling it to my little brother. He may let me keep a couple mags and a few rounds. But yes the accessories/optics and ammo are not cheap... AT ALL. I'll have to run the old iron sights for a few months to save up for the trijicon acog and angled grip.

It says it uses a standard barrel nut, so the type usually used with the plastic A2 style hand guards. And of course, you'll need an upper receiver that uses the standard pattern barrel nut threads. If you want to stick with the Seekins billet look, they make this one that will work: http://www.seekinsprecision.com/parts-and-accessories/ar-uppers/seekins-precision-223-upper.html |
| Ordered my SP223 lower this morning from joeboboutfitters.com got a nice $25 discount, everyone else seemed to be out of stock. Hopefully I'll pick it up by the end of the week and begin piecing this thing together. Thank you guys for the direction and advice, I can't wait to start this build. |
