The "improved" Larue has 4 rows of lashing points which allows you to break that puppy down and secure your lower and upper seperately. Of course I'm assuming it's an AR.

The company who makes those cases is the Mobile Armory.  They make other sizes that will fit your rifle.  I'm guessing you can ask LaRue to special order one for you since they are already dealers, or order direct.

Bagmaster's heavy weapons case comes in a 42" size that may work. It's very nice and you can get it for under $100.

I have a CTG (www.midwayusa.com) that has served me very well to date... has backpack like straps as well  which is nice. If you want something more backpack-like, Eberlestock makes some awesome packs with scabards...

I use a tennis racket bag.  Collapse the stock and it fits.

It is a 14.5"/Perm FH barrel.

I've been rockin' a discreet case from Galati International and have been very happy with it.

I play guitar and a spare soft case guitar bag works great. Neighbors think I'm just going to another jam session.

Absolutely +1

I use one for an electric guitar, because it is thinner than an acoustic guitar.

Shop on Ebay for one.  Prices are MUCH, MUCH lower than a 'rifle' case.  You can get this with hard sides, padded sides, hard and padded sides.  What the violin case is for the Tommy gun; the electric guitar case is for the AR15.

If you have an AK under folder they will fit in a tennis racket case. Its pretty slick. I'm glad this thread was made because I need a couple cases myself. Specifically a 42'' hard case.
