I started a thread in the equipment section but haven't gotten much in the way of replies.

I am looking to store a 16" carbine in the smallest case possible, in two pieces. I think a 26" case will work but I am not sure.

This one from Eagle looks interesting, but doesn't seem to have any provisions for securing the rifle inside the case.

I also want to make sure the rifle will fit in a case that size.

ETA: The I-shot is a little more than I want to spend. I would like to keep it under $100.

Blackhawk's 26" case.

I can't find any good interior pics of this one though.

How 'discrete' do you want to be?

For real 'low profile' I have a variety of cases from a 26" Craftsman toolbox, to a Dunlop Tennis Racket case, and a Walmart Guitar case.

I have a Blackhawk 'discrete' rectangualr case for my Recce that I really like.  It can carry everything for my setup (including alternat optic, bipod, spare magazines, light etc) and it unzips flat so you can use it as a shooting mat.

I just don't want the standard "gun case". The discrete type cases I posted links to are fine.

IMHO the rectangular 'discrete' cases still scream 'gun', they are now fairly common.  Though I really like my Tan one.

Cav-Arms also has a new 'discrete' case that doesn't scream 'gun' as it's only 26" long or so (it requires the carbine be broken down into upper / lower receiver groups.

I like my two TAC FORCE cases & they've held up very well over the last few years. They are rather nice & half the price of the other leading brands.

I like the Cav Arms case just not for $160. I am trying to keep it $100 or less.

+1, love the look of the CAV Arms case but the price is WAY to high for what it is. Been keeping my eye out for a suitable clone of it.

Thats a nice case but I am trying to keep it compact. That is 12" longer than what I am looking at.

Ditto - I like the idea, but the price is up there.  Way more than my Blackhawk case - or even the Eagle - which is known for their Excellent quality cases.

I was looking at my daughter's softball bat bag.  My 16" barrel and collapsable stock fits perfect without breaking down.

I cut a 1 1/2 " thick piece of foam rubber to fit the bottom of the bag.

It was even on sale for $5.  End of the year close out.

Oh, and it costs a shitload of $$$ also.

Know my gay-ass solution? A nike yoga bag. You just need to line it with dense foam.

How about a Uncle Mike's Over Under Shotgun soft case?  Here is the link:

Uncle Mike's Over/Under shotgun case

It has two large inside pockets that you could place the upper and lower parts in.  The measurements are 33.5"x10.5".  I bought one for my Mossberg 500a Persuader shotgun (fits perfectly btw).  I have another one brand new with tags still attached if you want to buy it.

You'll need to carry your rifle broken down into upper/lower halves.

I know. I just want to know if a 26" case will work for that.

Yes.  I occasionally use a 26" tool box to do the same.

+1 on that - Cav Arms discrete case is the shyt!  I've got one in blue, and tell people it's a folding chair I'm carrying.  Not one person has correctly guessed what I really have.  A little pricey, but worth it.

... I got to fingerfuck one yesterday, definitely the shitz - it's on my "must have" list. They kick ass.

I second the tennis racket bag look for price and cheapness. I picked one up for a pittance at a local outlet.  It leaves some functional things to be desired(like it's barely big enough to get the carbine in and out. But, it is extremely discreet.  Not one of my neighbors suspects I'm going to the range when I walk out the door with it.  The color really helps too, let's just say it's not black.....

Put a sticker on it that says "Mean people suck" and you will never be mistaken for a right wing, commie hating, capitalist gun nut.
