| So Couch-Commando has been talking to me about how bad the rifle gas system is on a carbine. I was thinking of getting the PSA Mid-Length upper for $350 and making it into a dissipator. Seems like a simple enough job. Just out of curiosity, what kinda snags should I expect when going this route? Should I go with a L low profile gas block with a mid lengh gas system and leave the front sight post up front not hooked to anything? I don't want a rail system. Basically I am building a zombie gun that is a little different than the usual M4 looks or M16 looks. I don't see dissipators at the range or matches all the time. |
| Check out the ADCO Custom Dissy-possible barrel. It is made so it is .749 in front of the gas block so it can be made into a dissy. Get a clamp on front sight (PRI or YHM) and you can run it right away. If I didn't already have a PRI .625" clamp on front sight/gas block on hand, this would be my next project. But I am going with a lightweight barrel as I already have the PRI. But I am sure I will build another. |

Why not just get the PSA dissipator upper? I can honestly say I did not see the dissipator upper. I am still looking into the possibility of building one but I am unsure. Is roughly $519 good for a dissipator upper? Also anything about Dissipators I should be concerned with? I wanna add the Magpul front forgrip onto it, I don't want a rail system. |

This PSA dissipator is an excellent upper: PSA Dissy My GF's nephew just bought one and I was looking it over this past weekend. I wish I hadn't because now I am going to have to buy one myself. The $519 price includes the BCG. With the BCG, charging handle, and Magpul handguards, it comes to $567.90. You can't build one of this quality for that much. If you already have the BCG and other stuff you can just get the upper for $419. |
