Anyone seen the print or know the max distance allowed between the feed lips on a 30 round mag? Thanks.

There are no prints to be seen.  How do you like that?  You are trying to match up two pieces of stamped, bent up, spot welded pieces of sheet metal to a precision machined receiver.  Sometimes the mag. works.  Sometimes it does not.  Rather than getting fustrated trying to dimensionally check the mag. better to just try them.

The Tech Ref. section in www.armalite.com lists a couple of procedures to grade the quality of magazines.  Unfortunately it takes a few hundred rounds being cycled through to reach any meaningful conclusions.

Start out with straight 20's.  They are confidence builders that there is a mag. on the planet somewhere that works.

The newer versions of the PMag snap cover contains a feedlip GO/NO GO guage built into it. Not too sure it works with the USGI 30's though.
