Finished this rifle a couple months ago from one of the Centerfire Systems kits selling some months back for $349; took some photos a few weeks ago, finally posting it here.

She was built with a AR15Sports 1:9 barrel with the FSB already installed, which was removed to grind off the forge flash.  Fire control is by PSA as the kit was short much of the fire control group; the selector is genuine M16, demilled.  The lower is a locally made A2 lower converted to A1 profile, courtesy Dremel, redneck style, in my garage.  A close look will reveal the flaws of hand re-profiling; the distressed look masks much of it.

Color matching the lower was done at home with Cerakote Sniper Grey; To my surprise, the Cerakote took well to steel wool/scratch pad distressing much the way anodizing does.  The FSB was also sprayed Sniper Gray, but the parkerized barrel was just rubbed down with a scratch pad; the laser printed barrel markings from AR15Sport came right off.

It shoots great; had failure to feed problems the first time out with Remington 55gr .223, had to charge the rifle after each shot; cleaned it real well and switched to Independence 55gr 5.56; not sure if the ftf was due to the ammo or trash in the gas port, but have fired hundreds of rounds since without a failure.

The rifle makes 3" groups at 50 yards and 8" groups at 200 yards through iron sights with 55 gr 5.56 from a bench and groups inside a man size target at 200 yards standing, unsupported.

All told, this one is a joy to handle, a pleasure to shoot, and always sparks a conversation at the range.  Build cost was less than $650 including the Cerakote, which left enough paint to spray several more lowers and/or multiple LPK's for future retro builds.

Here are some pics:

I'll be your best friend if you snap a pic of it with a 20 rounder inserted. Make it from the side.

Nice distressed look.  I like that you kept the dark patina on the ejection port door - looks great.

The "jungle" photoshoot is a nice touch too!
