looking for a specific barrel for a build. 14.5in, pencil barrel, 1:12 twist. Nope. Not sure what it would benefit over faster twist barrel. What is your resigning behind wanting one? Go with a 1/9. The only way you might tell is reloading and pushing light jacketed light weight bullets to max pressure/ speed. But out of a 14.5" 1/9 twist barrel, I don't think you can get a 45 grain fast enough to shred. And if a quality barrel and topped with optics, you should not see any accuracy difference between the twist. |
| Colt used them on some of their early carbines. I think that you have a slim chance of finding one of those, though. |

Are you sure that yours are 1/12 twist considering the '96 production date? Colt also made 1/7 twist lightweight barrels, and I would think that by that time, 1/12 twist would've been considered obsolete. I may be wrong, though.

Most are dated 1/96 and they ARE 1/12 twist. |
