This scope probably doesn't exist but I figured I would try anyway.
I would like to spend less or around 1000$ for a scope. I like a lot of the of the scopes on the market but the reticles are too busy for my needs (hunting/farm gun). I am looking for something with crosshairs like the TA01NSN or TA31-CH TA31-CH. I am not sure how to calculate using MOA or MRAD and would LOVE a bullet drop compensator to stay away from calculations. I am using a 14.5" barrel. I would like have something that can magnify to around 6 or 7. If any knows a scope with a bullet drop compensator out to at least 3 or 400 yards, with max magnification around 6 or 8, and crosshair reticle I would be very appreciative to help me find it. lol I know this is probably a pipe dream. |

My first thought is a Leupold with their Special Purpose Reticle, illuminated or not. But maybe that is still to busy for you.
Have you looked at the Burris line? They have the Ballistic Plex, the XTR, and Ballistic CQ reticles. Or maybe the Nikon M223 scopes, particularly the BDC 600 reticle. Those are some I looked at when I was shopping for optics. |
| The Nikon M-223 with rapid action turrets and Nikoplex reticle. It comes as 2-8x or 4-12x. The rapid action turret (well all M-223 scopes) is set up for a specific round 100-600 yds but you can use Nikon's SpotOn program to calculate any round. They also have the BDC reticle witch does away with the rapid action turrets (just reg MOA turrets instead) with the drop built in to the reticle. Or for that matter the Nikon laser IRT. It is 2.5-10x, will tell you the range and has a BDC reticle. They look to be around $750-$850. |

Thanks, I have looked at Leupold before but after this I think I am going to reconsider and go with their Mark 4 1.5-5 Illuminated Special Purpose Reticle. I wanted more magnification but I am sorry I forgot to say I wanted to stay with a 24mm objective. I have a few weeks before I buy this. I would love to find a Nightforce 2.5-10 24mm used on EE or somewhere, but not outrageous. The only one I have seen recently, they wanted 1350$ and it wasn't the reticle I wanted. |

BDC, 1-6x24, right around $1k, but the reticle isn't exactly what you're looking for. http://www.nordenperformance.com/crs_specs.html |

I don't want to sound like I am bashing it because I am not, but it's just too much for me and what I am going to use it for. I would like to have a scope with that magnification and size with a simple BDC striaght down for 1-400yards. I appreciate all the suggestions! If there is anything like I am describing I have overlooked it and would love someone to point it out to me. |
| Did you look at the Leupold mark 4 2.5-8 with tmr reticle. They have a m2 turrent set-up for 556 with bdc markings at 200,300,400, 500,600. Also you don't have to do special calculations with most mil reticles. You just have to do some testing with your ammo and you will know where your hold is. For example 1.5 mils is 2 inches high at 200 and so on.. You would be doing this anyway with a nightforce 2.5-10 there npr reticle is great for this. I would also stay away from the velocity reticles due to the fact your pretty limited how many rifles you could mount the scope to. Also the vortex viper pst 2.5-10 is another option it just doesn't have bdc turrent. Personally I am not a fan of bdc's, I do have a acog which is only good for my 556 gun. I would also say spend the money once NIGHTFORCE are great scopes( i don't have one but i want one bad) MIL-DOT or NPR in 2.5-10 are both good to go. Leupold mark 4 3.5-10 or 2.5-8(smaller, less weight) strongly suggest TMR reticle not as busy as you my think from pictures. Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10. |
