I have a SBR Colt lower and purchased one of the CMMG Colt 11.5 uppers. It's double tapping every time I fire. It's  also feeding a second round and jamming both before the first round is ejected. I don't think the bolt is moving back far enough to cock  the hammer but  just enough to begin feeding the secound round. Any ideas?

The double-tapping is more than likely being caused by a worn disconnector. Check the disconnector, hammer, and trigger for wear and replace any that need it.

The same happens to my stock Colt AR-15. I'll check those parts too.

Check to see if the disco lets loose  by holding the trigger back, and letting the carrier slam forward on a empty chamber,

Or

if the disco lets the hammer loose on a very slow trigger release/reset (hammer misses the trigger sear and just strikes the firing pin).

Had the same problem with my Bushy A2/20", it was the hammer on mine. The surfaces that grab the trigger were in horrible shape. Sent it back to Bushmaster twice before they/I found out the problem. It failed the function tests every damn time even after changing disconnectors, very irritating. Now it runs 100%
