New guy here bought my first AR after the election, s&w m&p15or.

anyway to my question this rifle does not have a fwd sling attachment. the bottom of the gas block has a 3/8" diameter unthreaded hole and a smaller threaded hole with a screw in it. how do I attach a fwd sling swivel and where do I get the one I need? brownells has a quick detachable "push-button and polished ball bearing surfaces for easy attachment on firearms equipped with quick-detach bases." Is that what the 3/8 hole is for or is that for something else?

I can't figure out why they put attachments on the butt and not at the foregrip. you would think for the price of the gun they could put a $7 swivel on it.

The 3/8 hole is for the rivet that holds the sling attachment. Did you buy your's used? There should be one there.

Bought it new, a relitive bought one from a different dealer and his did not come with one either. S&W web site the picture does not show a fwd swivel either.

3/8" is pretty large hole for a rivet.
