Really it applies to any "_____coat" finishing of a lower... are most folks masking off the FCG pin holes and safety holes before doing this or not?

Or just leave it all opened up and coat away?

How much buildup does duracote have? You may need to clean the holes up after.

That's what I'd do. If the pins or selector fit too tight I'd just carefully chase the holes out with a drill bit to clean them up.
