Im real new to the AR .I just bought a Bushmaster M4 A3 carbine. When the guy in the gunshop showed me around the gun he pulled back the charging handle which opened the dust cover. Now the question how do you close the cover. I tried pushing it closed but the spring loaded peg doesnt want to retract. If I push on the peg while it is open it will retract. Any help?? Thanks

You just push it closed. Maybe you need to push it harder?

Just push the cover closed. Sometimes they can be a bit difficult to close, I have two AR's that do this. The others close with very little effort. It does not seem to hurt anything, probably just stacking tolerances working against you.

TIG weld it shut this way you won't have to worry about it

Give the detent a shot of oil and work it several times with your fingernail. That'll probably help it.
