I found my E2D and have some money saved up to upgrade it to the current generation of high output LED lights. I have been considering surefire KL4 upgrade, but wanted to know if there are any other upgrades I can do at home. I have heard that these new Q5  and Q4 LEDs are the cats ass and wanted to know how I could increase output and maintain or increase runtime for this light. Once I have done this It will most likely be a weapon mounted light. Does anyone have any input or suggestions that could help me out?

Did you know SureFire is planning to release an LED version of the E2D - the E2DL ?

Here is a photo of a proto-type from SHOT Show 2008:


expected to be in the order of 120 lumens and a beam like the X300/E1B/L1

I recently upgraded my old E2E, I went with a click on tail cap and I went with the KX2 head. Two position one 3 lum/60ish lum set up and like it a lot.

If you want max bright go with the Kl4 but for versatility and run time I oped for the KX2.

Do you know eta for the upgrade? Also is the E2D compatible with the remote tail switch cap.

Sorry, I don't listen to expected or anticipated release dates.

Yes, like the rest of the E-Series the E2D / E2DL can use the UExx tape pressure switch TailCap. This is used by the M600A ScoutLight.

The UExx comes with a plug-in STxx tape pressure switch at the end of cable xx whole inches long. For example UE07 comes with an ST07 (7" long cable)

The E2DL should be avialble end of this month. LApolicegear is taking orders already. I have my order placed. But like all SF waits, they are longer than expected.
