I put an EOTech on my AR.
I have a (back up) rear iron sight behind it.
This pushes the front of the EOTech over the handguard ring.
Does this matter?

Thanks

No. I try to mount mine as far forward as possible. It seems to work better for me that way.

I concur.  It's fine.  I have an ARMS 40L-SP behind an EOTech 512 AA.  I like to have the sight close to the rear but it works perfectly well with the forward adjustment.  I'm so used to it now, I would be uncomfortable having it in any other configuration.

Good choice on your optic.  EOTechs are great.

As long as the rear is on the reciever rail, it's good to go. I run a 512 on my flat top with a ARMS #40. I'm a Eotech fan too. Nice open field of view.

It's fine as long as the front your EOTech is not contacting anything.

Other members here also use risers and EOTech mounts so that the optic could be mounted more forward to clear the handguard, also the iron sights co-witness at the lower 1/3 of the field of view which some guys prefer.
