So I currently own an Aimpoint PRO and I think it is great. When I was at my LGS I looked at the PRO and the EOTech 512. I really wanted to like the EOT but the reticle just looked too damn fuzzy for me. I now have some disposable cash lying around and am thinking about giving the EXPS03 a try (mainly because of size). However, are all EOTech reticles the same? Maybe it's just me but it looked very fuzzy and unattractive. Any opinions on the EXPS03 or possibly 553 if I decide to tolerate the size?
Thanks! |

I don't get the whole "fuzzy" and "unattractive" complaint, for one when you look AT it, yes it's kinda fuzzy, but you're not supposed to look at it. You're supposed to look past it... At the target. It's for quick target acquisition NOT to win a best in show art award! It does what it needs to do and it works! When you use it like its supposed to be used its pretty clear.
Heck if you focus on the red laser dot on aimpoints it will eventually become fuzzy...

Both eyes open, it just appears clear and on target. |

I too agree, focus on the target and not the reticle. I have the tan 553 on my Block II clone and love it. |

I am near sighted. if i use it without glasses its pretty fuzzy. Everything is fuzzy for me when i take off my glasses or contacts. I did a test once to see what I'd be able to hit without glasses with my EOTech, the reticle was a big blob but wherever the blob hit, it provided combat effective hits. So win win in my eyes... Good with glasses and gives me a better fighting chance without, |
| Yeah yeah, I get the look past it thing and your eyes won't catch the fact that it's fuzzy. When I was checking it out in the store I tried to do that and it still looked crappy. I really want to try the EXPS03 though. I'm sure I will get used to it and it will be a great optic for its intended purpose. |

For most people it clears up nicely when you focus on the target but not for everyone. |
| I have the same issue with my eotech but I kept it and have learned to use it. I just have to play with the brightness a lot to get it sort of a faint over lay of my targets. I did the opposite though. I started with an eo and now am awaiting the arrival of my pro. I want something I can turn on, leave on, and not have to sit there and mess with the brightness to get it adjusted to my eyes. aint nobody got time for that. |

Why adjust it all the time, turn it to a medium brightness and leave it! |

Is your aimpoint "dot" a "smudge"? If so, welcome to the astigmatism club. My eotech is fuzzy if I look at the reticule, but it clears up considerably if I look at the target. My Aimpoint looks very clear. I started off with a SPARC and moved up to the PRO. The AImpoint looks much better than the SPARC. I hope I don't have astigmatism, I'm too young for stuff like that

| I see the Eotech reticle slightly fuzzy due to astigmatism. What I found though is that it's not as noticeable when shooting in bright sunlight. If you like the open view of the Eotech, they make a sight that has a single dot without the 65 MOA ring around it (XPS2-1). |

So are all of the EOTech reticles the same? The glass and reticle quality of a EXPS3 is the same as the 512? Yes. And the reticles are not fuzzy. The fuzzyness is your eyes focusing on something up close that isn't "really" there. If you focus on anything beyond the muzzle, it'll sharpen up. Most people have the same experience you had first looking through an EOtech because they're looking AT it instead of though it. When you get a target to focus on, you won't notice it. Also, if you set it too bright for the conditions, it'll flare pretty bad, same with an Aimpoint. |

And your EOTechs are nothing but fuzzy junk!!!!! Haha...just ordered a EXPS3. Gonna give it a shot and I'm sure I'll love it.
