I am looking at either the 512 or 557 to mount on my DPMS flat top, but I wanna stick with the regular carbine handguards. Will I be able to fit the 512 with a rear flip up, or is there no way? I'm dead set on keeping the factory handgaurds, so my only other option would be the 557 at $100 more than the 512.

Might cut it close, not sure if the RBUS will line up with the Eotech though. Maybe put a 3" rail on the hand guard.

I thought the newer 512s have a recess on the bottom near the front to clear handguards.

contact one of the vendors in the Industry forums, like SWFA. They should be able to tell you.
