Is the EOTech 552 (correct model?) that takes the AA batteries too long to put on a standard flat top if one wants to add an A.R.M.S. flip up rear sight?  It looks like the combo might take up too much space without extending over the hand grips......

I don't have an anwer to your question but, for quicker answer, you should pose this question in the Optics forum after you've tried searching for the answer.

OK this got my interest because I'm thinking of something similar. I want to mount a EOTech 552 on a flattop with M4 HG's and put a LMT rear behind it.  Anybody got a pic of this setup or any input?

If I can't make it happen then it gonna be a long year before I can budget a SIR

"Duuhhh, why would ya say that ryan, when there are pics in the thread I posted above showing they will fit?".....said Mr Wilson
...Because I'm stupid-I saw that picture & didn't comprehend that those were M4 handguards........so there won't be a probem eh, with the Colt 6400?

While tight, your correct it'll work for ya. Sorry didn't mean to intimate a lack of intelligence as things like that are easily missed.... [;)]

As to sharpshooters' question, I think he's gonna have to think alternative methods like described in the thread above...., w/ the LMT/EOTech combo.

Using M4 bottom w/ standard HG top, or breaking out the Dremel tool to the little ridges up top, (fwiw, the Dermel work is NOT visible on the Standard HGs and while I know the pic I had of my rifle in thread above is not that close or good, you can shove that EOpuppy pretty far forward.... and I like it up there as it's closer to distance my SIR/Aimpoint ML2 is mounted and allows for a quicker pick-up of the red-dot, hence faster into action)

Ryan,

552 will sit just fine on the Colt 6400 with ARMS #40.

552 will also fit just fine with the LMT rear sight on the flat top with double heat shield handguards.

stupid question probably, but what's an "LMT"?

Rear A2 sight that has been chopped down by LMT, like in this pic by Wes, at MSTN on the EE.

Damn thats cool !  Whats the advantage of that over the A.R.M.S #40 or a similiar flip up?

It's always up, in postion and ready to go!

And as it started life as a standard A2 detachable carry handle, it's practically indestructable.

Mike

added: YMMV, but I like the more open view of the ARMS #40 BUIS, folded down, but there is certainly nuthin at all wrong w/ the LMT product, in-fact LMT makes some of the choicest uppers, sights, bolts, carriers and extractors around, see MSTN on the EE, as he's hooked up w/ them and their products....

When co-witnessing with an EO Tech, the irons will always be in the middle of the EO Tech's window. That's why a lot of people like to use an ARMS#40 and sometimes even a flip-up front sight as well. It's easy to have the irons "get in the way" when co-witnessing with an EO Tech. This bothers some people and not other.

Conversely, when co-witnessing with an Aimpoint, you can easily get the irons in the bottom third of the glass so co-witnessing with fixed sights is less of an issue.

FWIW, I've had both both optics and both types of rear sights so I speak from experience on this one [:)]
