How clear is your dot?
I just picked up a 512. My dot looks pixelated. I had some friends look though it and they all agree. Is this normal? I seem to recall looking at some at a local fun show and the ring and dot looked sharp. |

That's how eotech's look, but you could go outside in daylight to see if that helps.
Here is a really good POV video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qbMWSD0JVw |

Mine doesn't even come close to looking that good. In the video you can see the four points around the circle, on mine you can't. I also have 3 center dots really close to each other. |
| I was very confused when I bought mine too (just a few weeks ago). The reticle just looked like a red, fuzzy, amorphous blob. I just couldn't see a reticle no matter how hard I tried. Even took it back to Academy as I thought it was defective. Went to a different Academy in a neighboring town and tried a different model with the same results. When I explained what was going on to a guy who was there shopping, he explained to me that I was trying to focus on the reticle instead of my target (much like you focus on the front sight with the target blurry with standard sights). Once I realized I just needed to look THROUGH the glass and AT the target, it was like magic. The red, fuzzy, amorphous blob magically turned into a sharp reticle. The individual dots ARE visible but this is normal according to EoTech. It looks just like I thought it would now and I love it. Maybe it's just an issue of focus for you too? |
| I agree with the others, probably focusing on it, its hard not to, I pretty much cannot get mine crisp at indoor distances, outside usually much better if not perfect. My vision isn't perfect, glasses help significantly, magnifier makes it just like a traditional reticle. |
