About what distance could you accurately shoot an ar with an standard non-magnified eo-tech? -Thanks |

With proper "hold-over" practice one can accurately get hits w/ the EOTech out to 600 yards using the M4 platform. Zeroed using the standard IBZ Santose 50 yard method your bullet is 1.5" high at 100 yards, dead-on at the 200 yard mark and around 2" low at 300 yards, (depending on bbl length and bullet weight being utilized). mike |

I just used mine last week shooting to 300 yards with not problem. I was pinging a 1/2" thick steel plate out there like no tomorrow. The plate is 12"x 12". BTW this was with a 11.5" SBR. The EOTech is a great red dot and fun to use. I've only used it further once and that was 500 yards. I did OK with it but had to remember how far the bullet would drop (firing XM193 or Priv, can't remember) and then gauge that against where I aimed. It took a few rounds but I hit the steel. I've shot irons out to 600 yards before and that was fun (and challenging). No military experience for me so I had never done that before. |
Which is why I did eventually buy an ACOG (TA31M4RCO). I also found out I'm pretty good with BAC up close. No, not EO/Aimpoint fast but realistically it works for me. And the ACOG glass is very good. Another great scope recommendation. I've used an ACOG out to 600 meters and hit the targets without a whole lotta practice. |
Right but you cant get an ACOG/mini dot set up for that price. TA01NSN-DOC's run around $1500 and more. With the EOTech/3x combo you get 1x and 3x for a much cheaper price. And the 3x is absolutely wonderful if you have a Larue pivot mount (which is what I run |

I have 2 Eotech's and an Aimpoint, I just don't see how the magnifier for each can cost so DAMN MUCH!...Previous post is correct..by the time you purchase optic and magnifier you could have gotten an ACOG!...Not to say I haven't been tempted, but I just don't see where they are worth so much$$! |

I keep mine zero'd at 50yds.. 200yds is basically dead on.. Shots out to 300yds shouldn't be a problem for anyone. At 200yds.. a 12x12 target is basically covered up by the center dot and the red haze (happens if you are shooting in bright daylight).. Any targets smaller than that and you flat out will not be able to see what you are aiming at and your groups will be approximate, not necessarily accurate unless you're shooting off a bench. It will basically be a crap-shoot because your reference point will be so different holding on or above the target. I believe EOTech is more of a under 200yds.. first on target, rapid acquisition sight than anything else. With irons you can at least cut the target in half.. If you are wanting optics that will work well at 200yds and beyond.. eotech is not the answer IMO. You would be better off mounting a $50 tasco scope for any sort of groups. |
That's what i'm screaming. It has no adjustment that i'm aware of, Does not have to hold a zero, only has 3 to 4 magnification, and just sits there. And yes......... I want one. Can anybody tell me why the Leupold CQ/T gets no recognition. Seems to be ideal. Have played with one in the fun shop but never shot with one. |
From a solid benchrested position and taking my time: On rifle w/ the EOTech; my groups hover around the 1-1.5", sometimes smaller sometimes larger (note: this is w/ dot as faint as I can make it and still see it) With my 4 MOA, older ML2 & M2 sighted rifles; my groups hover around 2-2.5" (see note above) mike |
I agree, of your shooting unmangnified...EOTech = great. Reasonalbe price vs. performance. Magnified...may as well and get the HUGE investment out of the way and buy you an ACOG. |
Oh, no problem. That was 50 yards with three 10 round groups. Now Pull that out to 100 and make it a little larger. I'll have to find the 100 yard target that goes along with it. It's not in my Photobucket account and is probably on my home computer. Keep the dot in the same place and use good ammo. Ammo was Black Hills 55 grain soft point. |
