I'm looking for a holographic or red dot for my AR15. I'm looking at aimshot and sightmark holographic sights and comparing them to EO techs. I am no expert on red dots so I am turning to the hive to help. Are EOs worth the price difference. I see about a $300 gap between them and I just do not see it. Can you guys give some insight? Thank you.

You truly get what you pay for man, with that being said what are you planning on using it for? (home defense, duty use, plinking etc.)

Eotech is worth it. If you don't like it, you can sell on EE for $20 less than you paid for it.

Not perfect but has become my "go to" sight set up. I think I have them on 8-9 guns right now, from an SBR 10.5" AR to a Ruger Scout Rifle.

I prefer Eotech over the rest. The 1 moa dot is good for accuracy at range, the 65 moa ring is awesome for CQB type range.

Buy once, cry once. If you intend any hard use at all, it's totally worth the extra money.
If you are just going to plink from a bench then you can probably get by with the cheapie.

-eta-  My eotechs have held up to  a beating from predator hunting and three gun matches.
The first time you accidentally slam that cheap sight into a wall, tree ,truck, etc  you will see where the extra $$ goes.

I would use it for plinking and hunting. I tend to baby my firearms but accidents do happen. I am leaning towards the EO. I'll look in the EE and at the next gun show coming up. Thank you for the info guys.

The past few day on EE I have seen great deals with Eotechs.

I really liked my 512.  Sold it to buy an EXPS2.  Very happy with the EXPS2.  Love the Eotech reticle.

EO have unique advantage you don't have to find the dot, no matter where you look the dot is there. Not so with most red dot sights, just watch chicken pecking most red dot user to trying to find the dot. EO have huge field of view. the only down side is the EO are big.
