Does anybody have any information on it? I heard it will be sort of like an ACOG, and not a add on like the aimpoint magnifier. Any pictures? |

I did some testing for EOTech on the Magnifier, the idea spawn froma Spec ops request and it became a long and trying process. Aimpoint took the idea of the magnifier and came out with a system this year and beat EOTech to the market. the magnifier present a problem for the R&D team since EOTech use a projection system and the projection are set at a certain distance. thus a problem with a magnifier that extend the range of the reticle, because the projection, the reticle begin to get loose at longer distance like 300 yards. but with a magnifier, the distance increases and shots out to 500 yards became a problem. The Magnifer need will have to work in conjuction with a new revision of EOTech with a tighter reticle.  This is just the prototype, the size will be a lot more compact and the mount will be different.  possible reticle with multi dots for BDC. |
I've used it with the Eotech. I think it actually works better with the Eotech than on the Aimpoint. Better FOV. But, I really don't like the Aimpoint 3x module. Eye relief is not good. It dims the view through the scope to a noticable degree. Moreover, it is WAAAY overpriced considering that it is a simple piece of glass that magnifies. In direct comparison to a TA-11C, the ACOG kicked the shit out of the magnifier on the Aimpoint and the Eotech in all respects. Also, it seemed to change the POA of the Aimpoint--I didn't play with it enough to try to adjust it. For limited use and the occsasional longer range shot with the Eotech of Aimpoint, the magnifier is ok, but unless you have lots of disposable cash, don't bother. |
