I recently found a good deal on a new EOtech 511. Any downside to the 511 compared to the other models? I don't care about NV capabilities.

The only difference is that it use the N batteries vs AA
It is also smaller in length due to that

Battery life is significantly lower.  I kept the battries in mine, only used it once or twice in 6 months, and now they're almost dead
Note to self: remove batteries from EOTech, flash lights, NOD and IR lasers when not in use

I had the 511A65. Never had any issues with mine, mechanical or battery related. I changed the ā€œNā€ batts about once a year. Even though the reticle blinked when I turned on the sight, indicating that the batts were weak, I never had a set go dead on me.

Only reason I switched to Aimpoint was because the EOTechs reticle was too much for me. The Aimpoints single 4moa dot is easier on my eyes.
