Im thinking about mounting an EOtech 512 on my DPMS flat top and adding a rear buis. My question is whether ill need a riser to get my red dot to clear my front A2 sight. I was thinking about getting the A.R.M.S #38

or

the EX version http://www.armsmounts.com/catalog.php?action=124&item_id=36

Do yall think that the riser is necessary to clear the front sight or should i just get a folding rear buis? I would also like some room to fit a magnifier sometime in the future. A lot of information i know.

thanks for the input

I used to run a Bushnell Holosight, which is pretty much the sportsman's Eotech, on a Colt commando and it didn't need a riser.  With that setup I used a folding rear buis with success.  I think you will need a riser for the Eotech if you buy a magnifier.

If you want the red dot to clear the front site get a riser, otherwise you have an absolute cowitness setup which many folks say does not affect visibility of the red dot (your eyes will just ignore the front site after awhile no matter what setup you have).
I'd get a rear BUIS for what it is, a backup.
Someone else  will need to chime in to tell you about room for a magnifier, I don't know how much room a DPMS flat top has.
