Just placed my order. The alert system did not work for me. I just happened to look on the site.

What good does that do you? Legitimate question.
I just don't see the point in paying $135 for a gauge to check a pic rail. My mounts either fit or they don't. If they don't I'll be contacting the manufacturer of a rail or upper about replacement due to it being out of spec. Same that you will be doing if you check it with a gauge. I am also not an OCD engineer type.

I'm not an engineer type. I am an engineer.
I set up the whole QC department at my job, basic as it might be. My main issue with rails is centrality of sites. For starters, I'm gonna take this thing to the local shop and gauge the rails by every maker so i dont waste time trying shit.

ETA if you don't have gauges u don't know which part of a mate is bad.

I am in agreement ^^^

Mounts have a large degree of adjustment designed into them.  Now if you are concerned that your optic center may be .25mm right of TDC because of a narrow rail, that is just OCD overkill.

Good luck with your gauge!

ETA:  Oh, hell.  I just realized who posted this thread.  Explains a lot....

Because while interesting and things can be learned from it, most of it doesn't matter 90% of the time. Sure maybe if you are an armorer with a large department and having to diagnose issues, but at some point it is cheaper and faster to swap new parts in, especially if dealing with quality manufacturers/vendors.

ETA: I also get it for manufacturers and QC or T&E.

I must have you confused with someone else.
I don't dislike him, he's like the proliferation of borescopes, a blessing and a curse. He goes way over the top with ocd.

I think it's largely for informational purposes. I do believe that the best way to make sure the device works is to make the parts to print and then assemble them to print print. My only preferred deviations are fit between barrel extension and receiver, and between upper and lower - milspec is loose by design.

Nah i do shoot. But it's mostly groups, ejection patterns, sighting guns for me and others. Probably 1500 a year rifle and 1500 pistol.

I just got the gauge LOVE IT totally enjoyed fucking w it worth the $$. BUT it didn't solve my sight alignment issue.
