I'm building my first AR, a CMMG stripped with CMMG lpk and complete upper. I've got 50 bucks free right now so I'm planning to use it to buy my first 5, 30 round mags. I've read all 5 pages that I have access to here in the mag section, and I wanted to ask an either/or question.

To start off, should I get 5 of the D&H mags with the green follower or should I get 5 of the CProduct with CS spring and Magpul followers?

I'm leaning towards the D&H mags because after reading in the Industry section about CProducts mags having problems with some people. I realize that they have great customer service and they'll fix any problems, but I'd like to have a higher probability of the mags working right out of the box.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be great, thanks.

IMHO, you answered your question in the thread title....

Whichever you can get the better deal on

ETA: I have both and they both work equally well

I would advise you to maybe use CS springs for training, but for ITSHTF have SS replacement springs.

I DO consider the Magpul follower an improvement over the green one; the CProducts have them already installed - consider this, when comparing prices!

$ 50 is not much; I would like to try several types of mags!

D&H would be what I purchase.  That or Okay/NHMTG.

My mag stash is gradually becoming dominated by D&H 20 rounders with Magpul followers. That being said, while I obviously prefer the D&Hs, I've got a variety of others and they're all generally reliable with the exception of the Promag 20s.

or you could buy a D&H black teflon coated mag with a Magpul follower...

check out this sale

Don't get me wrong, I like both D&H and Cproducts mags.  I like the D&H teflon a bit better because of it's durability, however the Cproducts moly-lub finished mags with Magpul followers are top notch as well.  For me it all comes down to available $$ and a good sale!!
