Hello I have a question pertaining to ejector springs. How would one notice if the ejector spring was weak?

I'll take a guess and say that you are talking about the extractor spring.

If this spring is weak you may notice that the extractor does not grip the case head very well and fails to extract the spent casing from the chamber.

I've never heard of a weak ejector spring, but I imagine the symptoms would be weak ejection and stovepipe malfunctions.

Chamber a spent casing. Pull the charging handle slowly back. As the casing neck clears the port, it should rotate somewhat forcefully out of the port.
You can pull your BCG out, and using your thumb, try to push the ejector down. I don't know how many PSI it should require, but they are pretty stiff and hard to depress with just your finger.
Take a spent casing and hook the rim under the extractor. Rotate the casing into the bolt face. You should feel tension. Let go of the casing and it should spring out of the bolt.

It takes a lot, but they can get funky enough to not operate correctly. I'm assuming it had been working properly in the past. Drop some solvent in it and using that casing just like before, work the ejector in and out to make sure its clean. Then, do the same thing with the lube of your choice.

Do you take apart and clean/oil the ejector each time you clean the BCG?

I did it for the first time on my second cleaning this week (yes I'm a newb and me and my M400 are just two weeks old).  Not sure how often to do that.

No.

As said above, put a drop of oil on the ejector, put a spent case under the extractor and compress the ejector several times and this will keep it working fine.

its a pain to do.

i made a jig to disassemble the ejector out of the bolt.

You could compress with an empty case periodically and go by feel and see how well it flips the case.
Springs can weaken fast if they get hot enough.
If I remember correctly about 350 DEGF for CS springs and something less for standard springs.
I keep spare extractors and ejectors, but I keep a fair number of rings, springs, and roll pins.
Brownell’s has a tool that makes removal/installation of ejectors easy.

Ah, now I get it.  Thanks!
