Looking at these two scopes among others. Other than the 1-4x on the dr, is there all that much difference in build quality and eye relief. How might they stack up against an eotech and magnifier in eye relief and clarity?

You cannot compare Elcan to eotech! Elcan's are in a different league!  Depending on what dr you get, some come with back up iron sights on the top of the scope. The OS's that I have noticed and touched do not have Buis on the top of it. They are both great optics (dr or os)! Night vision capable/ low light settings/ bdc / a.r.m. locking levers etc etc!

Stinking eotechs are half the price.... Come one man! You pay for what you get!

Haha I asked about eotechs with magnifiers because I have shot an eotech and magnifier and while it was an awesome combo, I found acquiring the reticle a little difficult and the glass did not seem crystal clear. Clear image is extremely important to me in optics. Also, the military SU230 reticle differs from the regular civi reticle how? Is the only reason it is so wanted because it is "rare" and what "they" use? Also the os4x comes with the spectr dr civi reticle, correct?

The OS 4x is just the DR without the build-in very complex 1x magnifier. It's also $600 cheaper and 5 oz lighter.

I prefer the chevron reticle over the fine crosshair version.
