The ELCAN Specter DRs are outstanding optics. In the first run I had one guy have a problem with the ARMS mount and it was do to the Upper was not to MIL SPEC. ELCAN Now hand fits each unit with the ARMS the mount. So fair I have not even had one person complain about the ARMS mount not holding 0.

Due to the design, the ARMS throw lever mount is less than ideal. A few years back it was cool, because there weren't too many options for a QR, RTZ mount. Now there are much better mounts available.
One of the main issues is that the ARMS mount is not really adjustable, which means that either it fits or it doesn't (as noted above with a non-milspec rail), and there isn't a lot of tolerance there. Also, over time the mount could eventually get loose, and there isn't a good way to tighten it. |

All the photos I've seen of the DR show the non-adjustable ARMS mounts, which are a non-starter for me. Has Elcan already switched to the new adjustable ARMS mounts yet? Any idea when they will be making the switch? I'm really interested in this sight, but the non-adjustable ARMS mounts are a non-starter for me, as I've had fitment issues with my ARMS #19 mount. |
