I have a Stag 2T, and every time I clean the barrel, my cleaning rod gets stuck at the exact same spot in the barrel every time. And every cleaning rod with a bronze bore brush on it snaps and breaks at the exact same spot every time when I try to get it out. I have gone througth six DIFFERENT cleaning rods/kits so far, and Ive only had this gun for about 3 or 4 months. Ive had 2 bushys that have never done this. Could it be something with the barrel? Are there any other effective ways of cleaning the bore?
To answer questions ahead: Yes I turn the rod on the direction of the barrel twist. Yes I am using the correct caliber cleaning kit. (.223/5.56) No I am not using a flimsy plastic rod. |

Try inserting the rod from the muzzle without the slotted tip until it is all the way through, screw the tip on with a wet patch, then pull toward the muzzle. ETA: for clarity |

That a good idea, ill try that. |

Are you applying a solvent / cleaning solution to the bore first? I apply Hoppes elite solvent on the bronze bore brush, then I apply it to a patch. But I dont apply it to the bore by its self. First I thoroughly wet the bore with a soaked patch. When I follow-up with a bronze brush, the solvent doubles as a lubricant such that the brush doesn't get stuck. |

Broken rods damage the bore... If you are breaking rods, something is wrong. It shouldn't be that hard to get the brush down the bore. Make sure you have the correct sized brush...maybe buy a new one just to be sure.
Use a coated metal rod like a Dewey. Wet the bore with solvent using a patch before brushing. Brush a few strokes...not much, then patch it dry and lube/rust prevent with a new patch and dry. Don't scrub the bore with a brush. It isn't needed and can do more damage than good. |

Don't clean any firearm from the muzzle that was not designed to do so. Even those that are would be better off with a false muzzle for loading and cleaning. Take a look at any rack grade M1 or old muzzle loader. They will not have a crown, and some will have no rifling near the muzzle.
If you insist on the muzzle to breech cleaning, get a muzzle guide. Not a bad idea if you clean the normal way as it will keep the rod off the bore as well. Six rods of the same brand ? When it snaps at the same point, multi piece rod ? How did you get the parts out ? 458 |

Last patches through the barrel , apply some CLP . God bless wyr |

If you're having trouble with jags getting stuck and breaking in the bore, I would NOT suggest putting a bore snake in there until you have an idea what's causing you're problem. Sticking one of those in the bore will increase your frustration exponentially.
Is it getting stuck at the gas port? |
