I'm looking into getting a low profile gas block for my bushy and going with front and rear flip BUIS. I'm looking at a bunch of different gas blocks and I have NO idea what diameter barrel I have.

Should I have the .750 or the .625 diameter?

What type of barrel...if its a light weight its real thin,M4 profile with the notch,HBAR just solid and thick..itll also say HBAR stamped on the barrel if its an HBAR.

ps Nothing embarrassing about that question.

If you don't ask, you won't learn.

You might look for a set of calipers. I picked a fairly inexpensive one (less than $10.00) at the local Napa auto parts store and they work perfect for things like that.

Ok, for the really dumb question, with all the varying thickness on the barrel where do you measure? On my little cheap digital caliper my barrel on my S&W 15T AR goes from .728 to .658 to .742...what give here?

Technically you're supposed to remove the Front Sight Base and measure there.

However if you measure just before the FSB you'll find the value 'close enough for Gov.' work', as a .625" FSB cannot slide over a .072" barrel.

Yeah supposedly they get a bad rap here but I put a magpul follower and new spring in it and it works perfectly. I wish I could find more of them.

Yeah I've been debating to get a couple or not...think that makes up my mind. It wouldn't hurt to have a few if there's ever a SHTF...ya may need all the fire power ya can get.

The new CDNN catalog I received 2 days ago has em for $9.99...why do they torture me this way?!? There evil I tell ya...EVIL!!!!
