Hi, I'm looking at getting into highpower on a budget.  I've got a stripped lower but need everything else.  Basically I want a match 4.5lb. trigger, 20" match-grade 1:8 twist barrel with free-float DCM legal hand-guard.  Can I piece something like this together cheaper than I can just buy a national match upper?  If I piece it together, who has the best price on the components?  I'm new to AR's and this site (lots of good info BTW) so if you need more info, let me know.  Thanks.

White Oak upper (you want it with pins) $285

DPMS stainless barrel, with set screw front sight post.  Available at Midway, got mine recently for $175 plus shipping... shoots great.

White Oak float tube. About $100

RRA trigger, send it to John H at White Oak and he'll do an awesome job on getting it to CMP specs.  $120

Just add the nut behind the buttplate.

ETA: I already had a CMP-legal trigger (RRA, tuned) and some old full-size handguards... If you're dead-set on putting it together yourself then shop around in the EE and look for reputable sellers.

If you want it cheap and/or your not that experienced at builds, just buy a CMP upper from RRA or WOA directly... the WOA upper will have a leg-up on the RRA upper in the sense that you can have a pinned rear sight.
John H usually throws in three popular apertures too.

Go talk to Wrangler and company in the CMP forum, they're a wealth of info.

That is how I did it, by starting with a stripped lower.

I bought a LPK, a Jewell trigger, and a stock DPMS CMP upper on sale from Midway.  Kinda nice to apply a C&R discount to THAT order.

I later bought some lead inserts to fit under the forarm to raise those standing position scores, and balanced it out with lead bullets in the buttstock.

This combination works great, and I don't feel much a loss, equipment-wise, compared to HM shooters.  ARs are not M14s.

Ther have been a couple Bushmaster DCM uppers on the EE. Not sure if they are still there but that would be a good start if you didn't want to piece together an upper.

Just a thought.

Edit: Just looked in the EE. If interested go over, do a search for DCM and there are 3 Bushmaster DMC uppers there (not all in the same catagory).
