I picked up an EoTech from a guy at work.  It's never really been used hardly and was mounted on a rifle that has only been fired a few hundred rounds.  Anyways, when I bought it from  him I took the batteries out of it, just a precaution I wanted to take in case they leaked until I bought my rifle to put it on.  So I mounted it on my rifle today and put new batteries in it, but it won't turn on.  I pressed the "on" button, and nothing.  In case it was on I tried to make the reticle brighter but still nothing.  I dunno what else to do with it.  Is there some kind of reset procedure on them or anything?  Or has my bad luck struck again?

AFAIK there isn't any reset button on them. I've changed batteries countless numbers of time and they all turn back on by depressing either the up or down arrows. Not to ask the noob questions, but are the batteries seated correctly/in the right way? Also did it work before you bought it? I would check the terminals inside the EOTech as well and see how they look.

look on the bottom of the battery module and a diagram shows wich way the batteries go in pos/neg. There is no way to tell by looking in there wich way they go in. sorry no offense.

No it's cool, glad your asking stuff, I appreciate it.  Yes I did double check to ensure that I had the batteries in correctly, which they are.  I also verified that it worked before I decided to buy it from him.  I played with it numerous times at work on his rifle and it always worked fine, and it worked great the night that I told him I'd buy it and he handed it over to me.  I'm just pissed I guess that suddenly it's not working!!

I would try and put in a different set of batteries. If the terminals look ok and nothing is seemingly loose, I'm out of ideas. If worse comes to worse, you can contact EOTech for a repair. A while ago my lens broke upon impact. I emailed their CS and get a RMA form to fill out. Mailed it to them, and within 2 weeks or so I got it back good as new. Total cost was $58.

If you bought a night vision compatible model, theres a button in between the up and down buttons that turns the night vision on and off.  You can't really see the reticle with the night vision engaged....just a thought...

True above...

OP:

1. The center button on *MY* model (555) is for NV use and seriously dims the sight for NV use and is very difficult to see in normal light.
2. Both left and right buttons are used to turn the unit ON (and OFF)

Good luck

maybe hand it to the guy at work with a new set of batteries and ask him politely to make it work. Assuming you paid for it that is.
