Whats the difference between the EoTech 512 and EoTech 551? Im looking at getting either one, and they seem about the same price. I noticed the EoTech 511 mentioned something about night vision, whats that all about? Im new to optics...and ARs for that matter. What would you suggest? The 551 or 512? Thanks. |

I have a 512, AA version non nightvision compatible. The Night vision version has a nighvision setting where it it viewable through the said device. The regular version doesn't turn down low enough to us NV. If you plan on using NV, grab the NV version.. if not get the regular version and spend the extra $$ on ammo. |
That's the same reason I got the 512. You're going to have better battery life with the AA 512 compaired to the N-powered 551 anyways. WIZZO |
EoTech are one of the fastest sights out there if not the fastest! I love them!![]() www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks for AR15 Board Mike at CS Gunworks is... |
| Mike Newbie ? I see you have a 3x magnifier behind your Eotech. My question is, Do you look thru the 3x like you do the Eotech? Do you look thru the 3x or do you look at target with both eyes open. Don't know if you use 3x like a scope or an Eotech. Also what mount is that? THANKS |

My EOTech 512 AA arrives today FedEx. I can't wait to put it on my rig and head to the range. Update: Well I got it... went home for lunch and there it was. I put it on and played with it a little before I had to come back. My Vltor should be there after work... just gotta put it on and head to the range! |
| If you're never going to be able to afford a NV scope (like me), the 512 is the way to go. AA batteries are available everywhere, and the 512 is a solid design. It has 20 brightness settings, but I usually keep it within 2 clicks either side of the default and it works fine. |

511/552 use tiny N batteries. 512/552 use AA's. 551 is similar to 511, uses N's, but has N/V capability (a very low setting that won't saturate N/V). 552 is similar to 512, uses AA's and N/V capable. The N versions (511, 551) give +/- 70 hrs battery life. The AA versions (512, 552) give +/- 500-600 hrs battery life for Lithiums (aka "photo" batteries). Make that +/- 300 hrs for AA Alkalines. And AA's are MUCH easier to scrounge. |
