I recently added the EoTech 3X.FTS to my Eotech 552 optic.
When I look through the magnifier, the image is obstructed by the front site's protective hood. Is this normal? It seems like the mount on the rear site is too high. |

The magnifier lines up more correctly with the new generation of eotechs that have a raised mounting base. I have used a set up like you describe, and while annoying, it does work. I later boosted up my eotech 512/552 with a Yankee Hill machine YHM-220 eotech riser, made just for this purpose. It will also lower your iron sight cowitness as low as possible in your eotech field of view. Get the YHM-220 |

I have also taken Doc's advice and ordered the YHM riser (thanks Doc!). I just mounted it yesterday and it is a big improvement. Its interesting how the height difference is not mentioned on Eotechs page for the magnifier. All it says is that the magnifier works with all HWS units. It does mention on the pages for some HWS units that the base is raised 7mm. That is pretty much the same height as the YHM-220 riser (0.3in/7.62mm). |
