Hey guys so I got a Eotech 512 yestarday, what does everybody think about these? Seems pretty solid.

I enjoy mine.  I have a few of them, no issues.

I got one. Good things are the big window, and low profile. overall, It's ok. My only real complaint is the pixelated dot...

I prefer aimpoint.

I've had mine for well over a decade.  No issues.  I like the fact that AA batteries are available everywhere.

Here's your 512's great grandfather, the first functional engineering prototype from 1994:

While the Aimpoint sights have a sharp dot and phenomenal battery life, I like the standard A65 EOTech reticle.

Here’s a bonus of the 65 MOA outer ring of the A65 reticle
that EOTech offers.  EOTech has determined that the average male in the US is 5’ 9” tall.  At 100 yards, that 5’ 9” man will fill that
65 MOA circle from top to bottom.  At 200
yards, that man fills half the circle.
At 300 yards, that man fills one third of the circle, and at 400 yards, one quarter of the circle.

As it’s hard to claim self-defense if you’re shooting at
average US males at 100 yards or further, consider this: at 15 yards, the 65
MOA circle represents about 10 inches.
At this distance, a 10 inch circle covers about 65% of an average adult,
so you can imagine how effective this would be at close range.

There are other uses for the 65 MOA circle, as well.  The girth of a whitetail deer is roughly
16-18 inches.  At 25 yards, that unlucky
whitetail fills the entire 65MOA ring.
At 50 yards, it fills half of that ring.
At 100 yards, the girth represents roughly one quarter of that 65 MOA
diameter.

The above was scammed in part from one of the EOTech HOLO NEWS newsletters...
