| Was looking at getting the 512 for my 6920. Price at gander mtn is $419. Did'nt think that is to bad. But was wondering where abouts in the eotech line does the 512 fall. I don't need night vision capabilities. This will also be my first HWS. Going to pick it up tomorrow. Unless anybody else has any other suggestion. I have not drank anyones kool-aide yet.. Thanks for the help Dan |

Im also looking into an EOTech. I might not be the best resource but have been trying to read up on them as much as I can in order to figure which features I need/want.
here is their website: http://www.eotech-inc.com/products/sights/512 One thing I dont like is the buttons on the back, which would be a hassle if I decide I want to get a magnifier. Ive also been going back and forth on AA of 123 batteries and think the 123 batteries are a little more cost effective and have a 10 year shelf life which is a plus. I was hoping they were submersible to more than 10 feet. I know im not going to be swimming out of torpedo tubes and assaulting a beach but I want to know that if I drop it in anything deeper than the shallow end of the kids pool that it would still work. why are you considering the 512 over other models? im just wondering because Im looking into the same things now. In some of my research I found out that if a model is significantly cheaper it could be made for .22 rim fire recoil and not able to handle the repeated stress of a .223. just a heads up but im sure the one you are looking at is fine. |

Thanks for the help Dan Great optic, I owned one for a little while. Make sure you use only Energizer Lithium AA batteries in it. You wouldn't want a 50 cent battery ruining your $400 optic. Also, you can find them online for around $350 if you look hard enough. |

Functionally, all EO's are the same. No 1 model is better functional wise then another.
The difference is options/size The 512 is a great site. I have 2. However the XPS/EXPS sights are just as good in a smaller footprint. And they addressed a weakness with the transverse battery mounting. I don't see if your buying new to not get a newer model. I swapped out 1 of my 512's for a EXPS & will swap out the remaining 2 over the next year. |
