What is your expeiance with the runtime on the Eotech 553? I have a 512 that I like but the batteries seem to run out pretty fast. I am not running lithium batteries. I don't need NV capablities but using CR123 batteries would make it easier to carry one type of battery. (However, AA batteries are everywhere.) I also wanted to get a mount to raise my eotech to cowitness in the bottum third. My options are sell my 512 and buy the 553 or just buy a mount for my 512 and live with the short battery life. |

Not sure why you're not running Lithium batteries. That seems like the cheaper and more reliable upgrade. Also, have you considered the LaRue EOTech mount for raising the optic and giving you Quick Drop capability? I think the 553's CR123 batteries provide the same level of performance as the 512's AA Lithiums. |
