I have an older Eotech 552 that I've owned for about 7 years. My question is has anyone out there has had a problem with the reticle fading out (hard to see basically)in strong sunlight or snow covered terrain even at the strongest setting and new batteries. Mine seems to do this. Common problem or something I could the send the unit back to the manufacturer to corrected? Just noticing it now because I never used too much since I bought it. Thanks for any input or advice.

Try cleaning the battery contacts.  If that doesn't work, call EOTech and see about sending it back for a refurb/upgrade to the current F revision.

I have a 512 that was having similar problems. I sent it back to Eotech and they fixed it. When I got it back, it was almost too bright for use in a dark environment. It was a huge impovement over what I had before repair. I decided to try it in mid day sun and I was still able to see the reticle clearly when on full brightness. The sun didn't completely wash it out.

I recommend sending back to Eotech and have them fix it. They did an awesome job, and I was only without my Eotech for a week. This was just before Christmas time when things are crazy. They still fixed it and got it back to me in a timely manner.

I am impressed with their customer service!!  Just my .02
