I just received my 552F a few days ago. I've never looked through an Eotech before until I bought this one. My question is..even at the lower setting the ring bleeds outwards with jagged spikes (like a sunburst effect). Is this normal? I thought the Rev. F has improved battery life and sharper edges? The entire circle and dot is jagged and the circle doesn't seem to have a solid line going around. Any info would be appreciated and if someone could post a pic of their 552F reticle/dot I'd greatly appreciated. I'd sure hate to be the one to get a defective one after waiting 3 months for it and then waiting forever to have Eotech service/replace it while they are busy filling contract orders. Any info, comments, experiences would be appreciated! [email protected] Stan

If you are concnetrating on your target instead of the reticle, it should appear sharper.  It wasn't mweant to be looked at directly, it should float in your FOV as you look downrange.

Stan,

Another thing is to turn the brightness down some.  also looking through the sight like K1 mention is not a good indicator.  mount it on the gun take it to a range.  If you have a defective unit, EOTech will fix and replace the unit within a week.

Chen, the brightness range is in the lower range (about 4-5 pushes of the ON button from OFF) and it is mounted on my upper just 3 slots forward of my ARMS #40. I don't prefer it to be bright anyways. My co-worker has a Rev. D/E 512 and I don't recall the reticle circle/dot being that 'fuzzy' but then again I've never shot his rifle. Maybe when Eotech meant sharper reticle, they meant not as solid..I'm still lost..So what all you guys are telling me about the reticle being slightly fuzzy is normal right?! Stan

Here's a pic of it mounted

The "FUZZY" reticle is actually jagged to allow more light to come through. The REV F EOTech has refined the 65MOA circle some, but it isn't going to be a solid line for the reason stated above...

Yea, good lookin rig there.  The dot should be sharp on lower brightness settings.  If not, the sight or your eyes are not working right,  Ring was blurry on mine too.

Mine looks like that if I have my reading glasses on. Otherwise, as long as I am focused downrange, the circle is not too fuzzy at or below the default brightness level. For the 1 moa dot, I have to crank the brightness down a click or two. Go to a wal mart and look at a Bushnell Holo-Sight. It's the same thing. you can see for yourself if you should be concerned.

The EOTech is a different type of technology and we should not be surprised to see something that doesn't conform to the old style fixed reticle or even the aimpoint style dot.  The center dot is clear as a bell when using the correct sighting method. The outer ring can appear to be fuzzy or pixelated if you are focusing on it.  I STILL can't decide which optic I like better.....
