Picked up 2 new Eotech XPS2's last week. Put one on my 9MM and one on my 458SOCOM. Took them out today to sight them in and.......

Everything went good till.......

After about 35 rounds on my 458

Eotech cuts off

My first thought was I had killed it with the 458's recoil then I remember the thread from a few days ago where someone else reported theirs cutting off as well. So I tried what they had said they did and I loosened the battery cover then retightened it and it comes back on. How common a thing is this? It is hard to trust a piece of gear when you have had something like this happen. Should I give Eotech a chance to see what they can do or should I just return the sights (I am still in the return time). I went from Primary Arms Micro dot;s to these and am kinda sorry I did now. I know I put 150+ rounds of the 458 through a PA micro and had no issues.

Did you put a drop of blue lock tight on the battery cap? It may have backed off with the recoil of the 458.

Didn't do that but I did try to tighten the cap first and it would not turn so I loosened then tightened. I just thaught of something I might try, at work we have some copper paste compound we use on things where we want a good connection. I may put a dab on the threads and then tighten it up and see what happens. Also I should say that it failed after 45 rounds. I shot more than I thought I had

I had the same issue. I called Eotech and explained that the optic worked perfectly on  5.56, but cut off every 10 shots or so on a 7.62. They told me to put it back on the 5.56. They insisted that if it worked right on one gun but not the other, the problem was with the other gun, not the optic.

That's just CRAZY!

I did try and contact them and the guy that handles these things was out of the office for a couple weeks but was refered to someone else that was off today. Guess I will try and contact them again on Monday.
