How can you tell if your eotech is new enough to have the revision f? What exactly is revision f?

Model number denotes what batteries an EOTech uses. Revision F is designated by a small "F" on the left side. Bottom right of the protective hood.

Edit: Forgot to add...

Revision "F" is the most recent version. Improved battery life, reticule brightness, mount stability, etc.

Revision F indicates the newer control panel.
Prior to the "buttons" on the revision F, the control panel han a surface like...the buttons on your microwave. A nice smoothed over feel, easier to clean, but didn't hold up very well as the new system does.
The revision indication has nothing to do with the battery type.

557AR223,552.A65 .552.D1and 512.65 take same batteries AA Battery Model (supports Lithium or Alkaline)
....go to web site to see for yourself

WTF? You just posted model numbers. Those specific models designated by the model number use AA batteries. Others like the 511 and 551 use 'N' batteries. The 553 uses CR123A batteries. As stated by another poster, revision has NOTHING to do with battery type.

thanks very much for the replies guys-it looks like I have that revision.

The three things I was able to determine from model number were:

Battery type used

Reticle type

and whether or not it was night vision compatible.

My bad ...I was mis- informed by my local dealer...as stated above...would be the correct answer...so calm down a bit and send some rounds down range...

What is the Rev F and how do I know my sight is a Rev F?

The Rev F is the latest production version for our 511, 512, 551, and 552 sights. It has an increased battery life and greater range from the dimmest to the brightest settings. Any sight manufactured after February of 2004 is a Rev F. Look on the bottom of the sight and you will see a manufacturing date. You can also see a small letter 'F' in the bottom right corner of the left side of the protective hood.

What is the battery life of my sight?

The current Revision level (Rev F) gets approximately 200 hours of continuous run time with the N Cell battery, 600 hours with AA battery alkaline, and 1100 hours with AA battery lithium. All of these numbers are assuming nominal brightness setting and environmental conditions.

511 = N batteries

512 = AA batteries

551 = N batteries with Night Vision (button in middle switches LED very low to the correct level for NV goggles)

552 = AA batteries with Night Vision

F is latest, with black rubber buttons.  Previously a plastic film button.

.65 denotes the most popular reticle.  It is a circle with 1 mil dot in the middle.
