I started a thread about "cheap" lowers awhile back. I think 2 or 3 people had their products and are satisfied. If they allowed "pickups", I would drive there and pick one up.  As it is oneday I'll prolly order one. Price is really good.

I have three on the way. I am replacing one of the Essential Arms cast prebans I have. I'm not replacing it because of anything wrong, but I figure I'd let someone in a behind the wall state have at it. The cast one has held up very well. I built the gun in either '90 or '91. I have not heard anything bad about the new forged ones anywhere. I expect that they will work great.

I was told that he has made lowers for Bushmaster and was going to for Colt, but they found a cheaper source. for the last several years he has been busy doing lowers for the government.

I'll let you guys know how they look when I get them in. I expect that they will be just fine and will probably be the best bang for the buck................... Pun intended.

I just received three lowers. I'll get some photos and a better detail discription up later after I sleep. For now, they look pretty good. There are some machining marks on the inside of the magwell and the ones with the tough coat DO look nicer.

My camera is at work, so I won't probably have photos before Tuesday.

These have the black tough coat on them. The one I built on went together fine. All holes were in spec. These seem to be be as accurately made as their older cast lowers, of which I still have 2.

I've only used their cast receivers, and have been very well pleased.  I'd love to get ahold of a few forge lowers.  If their cast receivers are any indication of the forged ones, I doubt anyone will have any complaints.

Our dear friend Bubbaguns, has the misfortune of living in the the wonderful land of California.   IIRC, they ban AR type rifles based on the name.  So, lets say a Colt, or RRA, may be "on the list" of banned guns, so you could not import them, but "Vinnies House of Lowers" would be legal because it's not on "the list".  (But I bet if you check the list tomorrow afternoon, "Vinnies House of Lowers" will be on the list. )

I am in the NAVY.  I am from Arkansas.  I still buy whatever I want, I just can't bring it into Kalifornia.  I wanted to buy a few for future assembly.

Just a historical perspective... way back when people first began building their own AR's there were not a lot of lowers that could be bought.  Among the few early ones that could be found were Sendra, SGW (Oly), and Essential Arms.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but does anyone know how closely Essential's grey toughcoat matches Colt SP1 grey?

I've read it's a close match but not perfect, I'm going to order one and find out first hand in a few months

I just had an ar (mforgery) built for me on an essential lower and I must say that it looks to be very high quality.
