How is this done? Can anyone do it or is it something that you must have done by a professional?

You can do it yourself but it would be advisable to have a pro do it since there are rules that you must follow (if it is for a SBR etc.) and they can do a much better job.

Orion Arms is who many use, and they did a great job for me.
