Wait a minute, Pat's got a laser? I don't think it's actually his, but he has access to one. Read about it here, about half way down the page. |

I'm working with somebody to get some made...I'll let you know. Should be later this month... Sounds good, LMK. Thanks! Quoted:
now that Pat has that laser going, he should be able to do some extended A1's, contact him and ask I'll ask him about it. Need to talk to him about more barrel work anyways. |
|
Wow. Frikkin' laser. Maybe he could do these now, in all his sapre time. Last time I asked him he said somebody else was doing them and it wasn't worth his time. I think the other guy doing them was the late Kurt of KKF, so there's nobody that I know of doing them. If my deal goes through and they come out OK, I'll let you guys know about them. |
|
I didn't want to fool around with them because there were already some on the market. I don't recall if Kurt was the only one making them. I always avoided them because I just didn't like the way they looked. I try to be a purist. I've been happy using .20 spacers on 14.5 inch barrels to get the length needed. Those are a lot harder to spot.
Oh, and don't get too excited about the laser. It's a once in a while thing. We get access to it when we can but don't count on it being available any time we want. It is nice to speed up certain aspects of manufacturing though. |

...maybe you can get one of the machinist type guys (there are some pretty good ones here) to modify... Could you suggest or post who some of those pretty good machinists are??? I've been mucking about on my own, trying to do this or that, but I really don't have the tools or experience to do a good job... |

You guys always amaze me with the stuff you can do!! I think you build some pretty neat stuff for just "mucking about" |

you said SOME, not all Yeah, that's who I meant!!! I can't remember them all, either... See what I mean about more DIY'ing going on here than in the DIY Forum??? The real innovators and builders are up here; the parts changers have taken over the DIY Forum... It's a crying shame... |

you said SOME, not all I think there are alot of very talented people on here, I just received one of my65pan's 607 stocks a couple of weeks ago and I'm still drooling all over it Some VERY talented folks here for sure. I totally agree about my65pan's stocks - they are awesome. He's also a hell of a nice guy...as are the others, like heatnbeat. The generosity, helpfulness and quality of work on this forum really astounds me sometimes. You guys are the best. |

If you could tell me what you are looking for I would be happy to see if we could do those at work on our CNC's. We've started making several of the standard lower parts and are still looking for more ideas. As long as I can sell enough parts to make it worth the set up time we will consider the project. Email sent to you Postino. |
| The extended A1 is a good option if you are unable to procure a .2" spacer. 45Bravo did a fantastic job on mine (which might have been the first). The carbine with the 14.5"/pinned A1 w/spacer is by far my favorite carbine. If Pat is able to crank 'em out, I'd suggest a spacer over an extended A1. |
|
I did this as well inspired by your very picture and am very happy with the results but Pats spacer looks great and I might change over if he makes some more. |
