When reinstalling the extractor pin, I noticed that if i push it in from the top of the bolt as far down as it goes, the bottom end of the pin sticks out thru indent on the bottom of the bolt a little more than the top end does.  Is this correct, or should the pin be centered evenly within the bolt, or does it not matter?

It doesn't matter if it protrudes somewhat as long as the bolt slides freely in the carrier.

Then should I push it as far down as it goes?  Will the pin only go in from the top, i didn't try the other way?

No, it will go in either direction.

Make sure the bolt cycles. If it does, it is in correctly. It is a fool proof system.

I don't think I have ever read or heard of a extractor pin coming louse or failing after being installed. If anyone has please advise.
