I shoot NTCH and I'm looking at some 1-4x with 3.5-4 inch eye relief.
I'd like to use an Aero SPR mount because its only 3 oz but it has a 2 inch offset. Will this be enough eye relief if the mount is placed as far forward on the upper receiver without bridging the rail? I've determined if I have to go to 3 inches I'll go for a LaRue SPR-E ... its just 2.5x the cost and 2x the weight |

I considered it a necessary sacrifice to save on the weight but I had other issues with the mount (probably operator error) but when I tried to contact AP they took a month to get back to me. By that time I had gotten rid of it. So SPR can probably work for you. |

Sadly, there is only one way to know. You may find that with a scope you mount the rifle differently, anyway. While you may still may use nose-to-charge handle when behind a scope, you may find that not to be the case with a scope. My opinion or that of others, is no substitute for your own experience.
I suggest that you get a standard offset mount and try that first. If it is the Aero, you will not be out as much if you think you need your scope more forward. It will quickly sell without much loss on EE if you made a mistake. Just a thought. |

But wife and 3 kids depleting my fun money

| It would be best to get the optic first, "mount" it to your upper with masking tape and some shims, and then figure out what mount you need. You can get a good idea where the scope rings will be by looking at pictures and comparing the rail slots to what you are seeing on your own rifle and by the specs on the manufacturers' websites. Another option is putting the mount all the way on the hand guard if you can't find one that pushes the optic far enough forward. |

I think a user had a similar issue, thought I remember reading it on here. But got no response here and contacted them and like I said they didn't respond for a long time. |
